Re: Are environmental regulations bad under all circumstances?

I voted the top option: inherently evil. I found this closest to my thoughts on the subject. Government regulation, outside of protecting individual rights, is done at the point of gun. Case closed for me. The only possible debate that could remain is that the regulation is protecting the rights of ...

Re: Is Objectivism Right for Eve Online? Yes, it is.

It's a game, it's a voluntary simulation with given set of rules and mechanics. No force is being initiated when data changes on the screen in front of you.

I equivicate EVE to entering a paintball course. A really big, deep, vast, and pretty paintball course.

"You may select up to 5 options"

I think your pole could suffer from some statistical inaccurracies! :)

I agree with Kush, though. I don't really care and he basically lied to his wife. Didn't he go into rehab? 0.o

Re: Morality and EVE Online

"You can't have a 1:1 conversion of RL ethics to video game ethics" Exactly. The morality of video game actions cannot be divorced from reality, there is no conversion because there is no difference in measurement. The difference is in the context of the situation, the details of the mediu...

Morality and EVE Online

This thread is a response to some concerns voiced over the recent ban of a member who challenged the TTI policy of NBSI in Wspace and Kspace with similar ROE. It was put forth that this policy allowed the initiation of force by TTI members and was thus hypocritical to Objectivism. This would be corr...

Re: What is art? Is Photography art?

"Given that these digital composts are totally fabricated by the artist, not just capturing a concrete subject from the real world… Would it be safe to say that it is closer to art than a real photograph?" I've actually been pondering this throughout the day! Adding all these special effec...

Re: Composite breakdown

You guys should move the topic into the Deep Thoughts forum if you continue to expand on your thoughts. But back to the video. Is it art? No. It does however have some artistic elements. Cinematography (and the composition effects applied in the linked video) is essentially photography in motion. Ay...

Re: In Search of Freedom

Both Midas and myself have left TTI/VOS to pursue guerrilla warfare against the slavers. I can't sit in a mining barge anymore and ignore the hundreds of thousands of people being treated as mere beasts at the hands of irrational imperialists. They have rights and I will stand up for them, else I do...

Re: CCP's DUST-514

"No band of zerging teens coming from Counterstrike will EVER define the shape of the EVE world. CCP won't kill their creature, I am sure." I think and sincerely hope you're right. Chances are that even if that begins to happen, hoards of EVE users will sign up for DUST and whip their asses.

CCP's DUST-514

http://www.massively.com/2009/08/18/ccp-games-reveals-new-eve-online-console-mmo-dust-514/ Looks like it's supposed to tie directly into EVE in real time. Hopefully it's advanced and difficult enough to attract the same demographic EVE does and isn't some simple FPS that will put 0.0 sov partially i...

Re: Greetings!

Not surprisingly to me and in likeness to other Oist experiences I have read, my family just looked off afar and said things like "you'll understand someday." No one could ever defend themselves, they always referred to vague ideas. They still think this way of course, saying I'm "jus...

Greetings!

Hello TTI! My name is Zarkary, you can call me Zark for short. I recently applied to TTI this week and am very excited to hear the Boards decision. I figured I'd post an official introduction so everyone could get a sense of me. I've been playing EVE off and on for a little over a year now and have ...
