I think that's just baloney. The reason why people are incarcerated is because of the act (obviously) -- but for minor offences. I believe in personal liberty, and that includes the right to (ab)use drugs as one sees fit, as long as it does not harm others (selling to school kids, etc.). The US war ...

That's pretty much bang-on, musashi. Academics have always been socialist in nature; at least, that's how it is here in Europe. The main issue is that they're unionized and are complaining about lower salary -- that it doesn't scale well with the inflation -- and, on a humorous note: with that of th...

Musashi, I have to admit many of your viewpoints are a metric on which others should be judged; but I do have to ask: How did you come across taoism? To (slightly shift) the discussion from your belief to one of my own -- that of fate. As a bona fide atheist I cannot help but think that past actions...

Very well thought-out post, zapitino. Thank you for your opinion. But down to business: This very thing happened in the early 1970s in Denmark; we'd find ourselves unable to fill all the crap jobs such as cleaning toilets at schools, and so forth. Our solution was to provide greencards to foreigners...

Good poll, musashi. Flags do matter, but not because they're flags; the symbolism is behind them is what counts. When people wave a mexican flag at a US demonstration you show your true colors, so to speak -- where your alligeance lays. I find it despicable that people who, as the OP points out, cho...

WHY is the stack two months old? We've had a HR Director up until a few weeks ago. Abosolutely right, you are. The Email from hotmail threw me off, it was dated June 7, which I mistook as an application. The earliest is June 20, making it only 1 month old. Please forgive... honest mistake. I'm stil...
