POS access in Great Wildlands

Post by MidasMulligan »

Preface: Yes, I am a member of the dirty, dirty Suddenly Ninjas. Before you go off calling this whole thing some kind of trap or scam, I can assure you, I'm running way better scams than this on way dumber corps. I will always have a soft spot for TTI and know I can trust you guys. Plus, there's kinda no way for us to rip each other off here for more than a few dozen mil.

Hello, Taggart people. Long time no see! I've been doing quite a lot of things, some more nasty than others. What I'm up to now is setting up a POS in Great Wildlands (that's NPC 0.0 populated by Angel Cartel).

I've been out there for a while now checking around and making sure this is a good idea, and I believe it is. The POS is far from station systems, which means that not only are there very rarely any hostiles about, there's very rarely anyone about. Want a 0.0 system all to yourself? Come give it a try!

What can you do?
Belt ratting can be done in a stealth bomber quite easily. Battleship rats everywhere. Battlecruiser rats go down quick too. Anomalies earn massive isk/hr and are available in abundance. Salvage mag sites, suck up ladar sites, haxor radar sites. Or, if you're a newbie, salvage behind someone else. Hook up with one of us or a Taggart member and salvage the wrecks. Or, if you look around a bit you'll find a system with wrecks in every belt.

What must you do to get in on the action?
First, the rules. Feel free to drop off loot, either in an anchored can in a safe somewhere (I need a bookmark) or in an unanchored can inside the pos. I will take it to the market and keep 10% of the proceeds. Also, please remit 10% of any bounties you earn to the holding corp. We're on the honor system for this, I have no way of tracking your earnings. If I discover you are cheating, you will receive a strongly worded evemail. This is your only warning. Anyway if this all sounds good to you just evemail me and after I check on you (i.e. convo someone I know in TTI) I will give you the password to the shields and the location of the pos.

If you have any questions or comments or ideas please post them here so that we can all be in on the discussion.

Note: This is just a small pos, a mini-dickstar. If you think it would be fun or worthwhile to take it down, you are incorrect. Hopefully someone will back me up on this point. Anyway if the pos dies I'll just set up another one somewhere else and not invite TTI anymore.

If you want to test the waters, here's a stealth bomber fit that can kill an 1,000,000 isk battleship in about 7 volleys:

[Hound, 0.0]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Overdrive Injector System II

Small Shield Booster II
1MN Afterburner II
Target Painter II

Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
'Arbalest' Siege Missile Launcher, Bane Torpedo
'Arbalest' Siege Missile Launcher, Bane Torpedo
'Arbalest' Siege Missile Launcher, Bane Torpedo
(Salvager I or probe launcher, offline)

Small Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I
Small Bay Loading Accelerator I

486 dps with all level V skills.

This is a great ship to use to get into Great Wildlands in the first place, too. Costs about 30m to fit, t2 stuff can easily be switched for named stuff, and you can train for the whole thing from scratch in less than a month. I can supply the bane torpedos to you. Don't bring other stealth bombers, you'll do far less damage to the rats.

Watch out for officers, I hear they're a wee bit more difficult nowadays. :)

Do you have details on that? I've heard the same but so far have only fought the frigates, and didn't notice anything different.

They only changed the officer spawns (proper-named battleships); all the other regular belt rats are the same including faction spawns. They have much higher dps and tanking abilities now and have sleeper AI so they single out logistics, switch targets, etc. They tank very well, so much so that they cannot be solo'd by even a supercarrier, although a titan can still 1-shot them with his doomsday.

Some anecdotal references:
Found a Kaikka with my 20 man roaming gang (mostly canes, a few scimis/drakes) when hunting venal for bots today. (Hurray for hot sexeh geminate ustz action... Not.) Tackled the damn thing, ordered it primary, and it almost tanked the fleet. Thankfully, it died after 2 min or so. Unfortunately, even though it dropped a DG Invuln and a Kaikka's Shield Boost Amp, it takes either a decently sized gang or capitals to kill. Sorta annoying that you need a capital to make any real profit off it, we're only going to make 30 or 40m each with the 20 man gang. I thought officers were supposed to be a mechanic meant to give a solitary ratter a random chance to make it big? Good reward for the nooby little guy flying around belt ratting, gives him a big kickstart for buying some nice ships, investing the capital, whatever. Forcing us to use capitals or a big gang seems to totally reverse this, further converting EVE into SupercapsOrGTFO Online. Yeah, I guess it can kill bots, and that's sorta nice. But seriously??

(5:39:55 AM) dabigredboat: not enough dps with heavy drones
(5:40:10 AM) atrum_veneficus: you clearly do not have enough DCUs equipped

(5:40:13 AM) dabigredboat: tbh the best way is to literally warp in a titan at 100km and dd
(5:40:28 AM) dabigredboat: just like the officers in 10/10s
