"If you can't compete, don't" - Jack Welch

Post by Joseph SaintJohn »

EVE is the only MMORPG I have ever played. I was introduced to EVE by my son (at the time he was 16) and he has returned to the world of X-Box and Play Station. He has asked me to continue to skill train and PLEX his character. I have continued to and I don't know why.

I have done many things in EVE, from being in a pirate corporation (I
was too new to the game to understand what we were doing and why), been a director in a 0.0 corporation as part of the Deklein Coalition, witnessed the rise and fall of the Northern Coalition, and been in two WH corporations. I fell in love with both WH's and the people in the corporations I belonged to. I came to detest 0.0 alliances. There is no "end game ", but I respect The Mittani and his destruction of BoB.

I am relocating from Chicago to the East Coast, I signed the contract last week and so I will not really be in the game for 4 - 6 weeks. Money talked and I listened. I have thought of leaving the game many times but I have not. In RL I am 59 years old and many things I see in EVE make me laugh. Others make me cry.

Ayn Rand, an interesting woman, a product of Russia and America, who worked as a screen writer in Hollywood. An adherent to many views with which I agree. There are some with which I disagree. An example would be war. She was wrong and St. Augustine was right. There is "just war" . Joseph II of Austria believed ""Enlightened Despotism" was the best form of governmentst, but he was crowned in 1764 and did not live through the depresion and suffering in the United States in the 1930's. He also never witnessed the Armenian genocide.

My mother was a young black woman, in the rural south, during the Great Depression. I do not know what philosophy made sense to her, but I suspect "survival" was part of it's name.

I am not sure where I will go and what I will do when I return to the game in 6 weeks, but it wil be in WH's. Steven Barnes said "A choice once made, creates its' own path".

That path may lead to Taggert Transdimensional.
