Mining is one of the worst income sources in EVE unless you're mining with multiple accounts and mining high quality ore. (Of course, more accounts means more ISK to pay for the accounts) You might consider blueprint copying, research, manufacturing, or trading if you want afk income at a good level. That said, I afk mined in hisec for awhile, and its hard to beat the feeling of afk ISKies.

It discusses manufacturing, blueprints, and some other industries as well.
