The Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper is currently running a series about 2 New Orleans hospitals, and how they fared during the Hurricane Katrina disaster. I find it interesting reading, but then, I had relatives who lived in the disaster area (they've since moved, as they had no place to go back to).
What has really hit home, though, is the striking contrast between the responses of the two organizations. On the one hand, there is Charity Hospital, the largest public hospital in Louisiana (there were 9, two, University and Charity, in New Orleans). On the other, Tulane Hospital, a private hospital owned by a large medical facility corporation, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).
This is a fairly long read, and it's not even half done (currently, 10 of 22 chapters have been published, although each chapter is but a page long). So far, Chapters 6-10 really start to show the differences...
I would be interested in how the TTI community reacts to this. Seems to me it is vivid example of Objectivism vs. Collectivism in real life, non-philosophical terms.
