Hi folks.
I am a 22 year old guy from Sweden, whose been playing Eve for about a year. Well, actually more like 1 month, because I never really got hooked when I played previously.
I am going to give it a try again, since I never was in a corp before. I've heard that corporations are one of the more important aspects of Eve.
I am a computer student, with an interest in music and litterature aside from computers.
In Eve, I am a very casual player, definitely not 0.0 material, and during the summertime I probably will not be very active. Additionally, sometimes my studies takes too much of my spare time, and I don't have time for games. Since the corporation has an individualistic approach, hopefully this will not be much of a problem.
Just wanted to say hi, I will send in my application soon.

Hello
Hey, Cervailes, what kind of computer student are you?
Some of us here, are into computers as well.

Because of the volitional work a mind must have performed to reach for the first time so exalted a level of truth—and because of all the glorious effects such knowledge will have on man’s life, all the possibilities of action it opens up for the future." -- Leonard Peikoff

Hi.
At the moment, I am going to read what is called a basic science year, which means that I am preparing for computer studies that will begin in 1 year.
Thus, I am not a fully fledged computer student, but rather an enthusiast with the ambition to get an education in computers. I do some basic C++-programming at the moment, and like to do hardware modifications to my computer.
My interest in computers came quite late, previously I was more interested in history and foreign languages. Therefore, I have just begun understanding the basics of computers. I am now reading a book about C++ during the summer (C++ programming by Stephen Prata).
How about you guys?

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that you appreciated my application.
I have never been attracted to liberalism as an ideology, and have got the idea that Rand is a bit too extreme for my tastes. I might read her for the sake of interest though, it seems to me that those who have read Atlas Shrugged always tend to either embrace it or despise it.
Hope to hear from you soon regarding the application.

Yes, Rand’s writing does produce passionate responses. It seems to me that the people who passionately dislike her novels have usually not read them, or have put the books down because they did not enjoy her writing style.
Rand was very young when she wrote the books. And she had only recently emigrated from the Soviet Union. Often people criticize her writing style as simplistic and long-winded. Given her background, I think she did a very good job. I suggest her flag ship novel Atlas Shrugged as a good first read. It is long, but hopefully it will draw you in within the first few hundred pages.

I would suggest staying away from saying that her ideas are a bit too extreme unless you can really back it up.Cervailes wrote:I have never been attracted to liberalism as an ideology, and have got the idea that Rand is a bit too extreme for my tastes.
For example, if you have only read her fiction books or heard of somebody else describe it, you can easily get confused about her philosophy.
So, make sure to read her non-fiction works before making such claims. And even then be ready to defend position.

I do not claim her ideas to be extreme, but rather mentioned that that's the impression I have got from others. I myself do not have an opinion of her works at the moment.Oleksandr wrote:I would suggest staying away from saying that her ideas are a bit too extreme unless you can really back it up.Cervailes wrote:I have never been attracted to liberalism as an ideology, and have got the idea that Rand is a bit too extreme for my tastes.
