Taiwan's Nationalist Party, which favors strong ties with China, just won landslide elections in parliament...

Anyone who works at the DHS and just booked a holiday is going to be kicking themselves. Looks like it's refugee time!

Yeah, I’ve known quite a few Taiwanese people. My graduate advisor in college was Taiwanese too. All Taiwanese people that I’ve met (except for my prof) favor reunion with China.

In recent events they can see first hand how China has handled the take over of Hong Kong. Most seem completely oblivious to the human rights record of the Chinese government. Many express great frustration at Formosa (Taiwan) not possessing international standing. It is like they exist in some sort of limbo.

My buddy just returned from a vacation to Taiwan last year, he had a wonderful time. He said the country is EXTREMELY customer-service oriented. Apparently life on an over populated island, with limited natural resources plays a role in social development. My friend loved the food, thought the women were great and had some spectacular nature photos.

Well, according to Wikipedia, the KuoMinTang have moderated somewhat and are more focused on closer relations with, rather than full reunification.

So things may not turn out as bad as it may seem at first.
