The Spinward Fringe series by Randolph Lalonde is pretty interesting, and of course all of Terry Goodkind's books are worth a read. Cory Doctorow has some interesting books too.

I have 8 years working experience at a hazardous waste recycling facility, and my view on government seems to be different from most. I view government as a means for people to organize their protection against universal threats. Whether that be protecting their individual rights via basic education...

I think the key here is that having infinite knowledge of the universe/omniscience would only entail prediction of what someone is going to do. You could use this knowledge to influence someone's actions, but that is an interaction between that person's and your own free will. Not a negation of free...
