Re: Proof That God Cannot Exist
In the absence of understanding, would we call the Tralfamadorians Gods? My rational mind would tell me that they are not magical, supernatural beings, they are just technologically advanced, even impossibly so. But look at the lives we live now compared to the lives our ancestors lived, say, 9000 ...

Re: Proof That God Cannot Exist
But to me it seems far more likely to come across one of these supernatural beings, than a creator of the Universe. Not that either event has even the slightest degree of probability. But to the original question about the existence of GOD gets more likely if we expand our definition of what GOD is...

Re: Proof That God Cannot Exist
His entire argument can be summed up as: "God exists because I want to go to heaven. Can you prove it's not true? HA! Didn't think so! Neeener!" Actually, that's a pretty valid point... Religion exists for two reasons: to overcome the fear of death, and to explain the unexplainable. The f...

I do not have any desire to be considered a source of disruption or controversy with the corp that I have loved and admired since I started playing Eve, but I feel that my ongoing discussions in the Deep Thoughts forums have made me such. My opinions and reasonings on these subjects are not, IMHO, ...

Wait a sec… You can’t have your cake and eat too. On one hand you want to centralize and universally apply DNA and finger print databases. And on the other you want to de-centralize power. How is this done? Don’t these two trains go in opposite directions? Think of all the power that governments ha...

Re: Objectivist Justice...
Don’t you run into a small human nature problem here? Let’s give you the stoutly adherent Objectivist society and government. How about 99% of the people adhering to common tenets. That still leaves 1% deviants to exploit the system. 1% would still be a massive improvement over our current society....

Re: Objectivist Justice...
If we can trust an objectivist government (and I think we could), then should every citizen register their fingerprints / DNA to prevent cases of mistaken identity and to make investigations more effective? What about non-harmful truth serums? Making it mandatory for citizens to give filgerprints i...

Objectivist Justice...
One of the things that I think is most scary about justice systems as they exist today is situations like this... http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/01/22/masters.case/index.html What does objectivist theory state about the right to privacy and silence during criminal investigations? If we can trust an o...

Check out this CNN article about alleged Ron Paul newsletters written in the 90's containing racial slurs... http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/10/paul.newsletters/index.html The article seems like a smear job to me, but they did throw in an interesting quote where Ron Paul defends himself by sayin...

I don't see how a government could have a 'freedom of action' to increase taxes if no individuals within that government wanted to raise them It's because the government often has a piece of paper reserving the power to do so to that government. I think labeling an organization with a moral qualifi...

Modern economics truly is opposed to all environmental activities In another thread, you argue that organizational bodies are composed of groups of people, and that those people are who are morally responsible for their actions, not the group itself. In this example, the 'economy' in question is re...

If an objectivist society in the near future is formed, and rapid technological expansion resulted from the ensuing economic freedom.. And time travel was invented... Would objectivist forces be justified in going back in time and silencing Herr Marx?Oleksandr wrote:Whoever preaches evil ideas is an evil man.

Any form of environmental regulation takes the “free” out of free market. I think that the freedom inherent in an objectivist economy does provide for a form of environmental regulation that I find to be acceptable: the actions of the consumer. In a market free from taxes, tariffs, pork barreling a...
