1) What are your unique characteristics that set you apart from most people?

I'm just getting started. Having renounced my former religion (Christianity) in no small part due to the works of Ayn Rand, I'm now living for myself. I don't have any major accomplishments to my name as of yet, but I plan to achieve something of worth in my life... and realize fully that whether or not this occurs is entirely up to me. I seek to rise or fall on my own merits; and desire no reward that I have not earned. What I achieve in this manner will be the direct result of my own hard work. It is this that makes me desire more and greater things; anything that I acquire in this way is mine by right, for I have earned it.


2) Why are you playing EVE?

Eve is hard. It is deep, and complex, and dangerous. It is not a world that will permit me to freely make mistakes; if I fail here, it is my fault, and I will be punished for it. Similarly, anything I achieve here is not simply a product of time and money, with no possibility of failure other then a failure to spend lots of time and money in playing... success here requires both intelligence and effort, and cannot be had simply by a series of repetitive motions.

More practically, I'm working Graveyard at the moment. Outside of work, I don't see much of other people, and don't operate on a schedule conducive to social interaction. As such, I turn to a MMORPG instead. It would have to be Eve, of course; once I really understood what was out there, it couldn't be anything but.


3) Why are you applying to Taggart?

When first considering Eve, I thought of it mainly in terms of PvP. Like most MMORPGs involving PvP, I figured the grouping mechanic was 'pick a flag, then fight for it'. As such, I have, up until now, been proceeding with the intent of eventually joining one of the PvP corps in 0.0 and getting involved with the fighting there... after all, isn't that the point? Then, I ran into your announcement on the Eve-I forums (regarding the Te-Ka/Ka-Tet thing), and was immediately interested... and after doing a little more research, here I am.

More specifically regarding profession, I picked Engineer during character creation because I usually like a bit of production skills to support my other activities; it's handy to have a stream of income beyond combat. It was an open question whether I'd manufacture goods to support my PvP habit, or PvP to support my manufacturing habit (or indeed, whether it's too fine a distinction in 0.0, where both are needed). Left alone, I'd probably just produce... but as that's unlikely to happen, I need to be ready to defend myself.
