New Recruit

Post by ccpeters »

I played EVE way back when it first came out, then left for the impending release of SWG. I'm on my way back to EVE after many months and will be playing it and SWG side by side. I remember reading about TTI just before I left and was very impressed by the website and all the detail that went into it. I've noticed now that the website isn't there and that TTI seems to be going thru some sort of reorganization.

I'm interested in learning more about what's happening with TTI today and how I might be able to become a part of it. I still have my original character I had when I left. He's a Minmatar with Corporate skills, along with many others. So tell me what's happening today with TTI and let me know how I could become a part of the team.

Greetings ccpeters, and thank you for visiting us again.

TTI is, as always, rising to the challenge that EVE presents and continuing to adapt and overcome in order to stay on top. Currently, we're taking an unique opportunity that presented itself to update our website, thus it's unavailable until further notice. GunnyP, an outstanding leader, is at the helm of Taggart, boldly going where NPC Pirates fear to tread. We launched a new recruiting drive about a month ago to meet the needs for Tech2 and Tech3, so if you want to apply, your timing couldn't be better. Send your email address to recruiting@taggarttransdimensional.com and you'll receive our application form in the mail shortly thereafter.

Kind Regards,

Golda

Greeting to the members of TTI,

Rather than start another thread devoted to new recruits, I thought I would just add my own hello to this one. I've been playing Eve for about a month, but I was secretly reading the TTI forums long before then. This website, and the amazing idea behind the corporation, were one of the deciding factors that made me join Eve Online. Since then, I've had a couple of encouraging conversations with Golda, and decided to test myself against the rigorous Taggart application process. With perserverance and luck, I hope to one day call you all my corpmates and friends.

Until then, safe journey and high profits.

It can't hurt of say a few words about myself even before I know for sure; after all, regardless of whether or not I'm ultimately accepted, there's no harm in making friends...

Out of character, I'm a 28 year old professional working in Milwaukee, WI, where I'm employed by General Electric in their Finance Department, reasearching customer accounts. When I come home, I split my time between writing for Twilight Games, a role-playing game publishing company start by my best friend, reading books on a vast variety of subjects, and playing Eve.

I'm applying to Taggart because of the depth of vision I see here, on the website, and in the forums. There are those who have said Taggart has seen its glory days, but with all the changes coming to Eve, I believe Taggart is uniquely suited to dominate the Eve universe. The idea of a truly capitalist corporation in MMORPG's is a revolution in thinking, and one that has yet to show the true extent of its potential. I want to be involved with the success I see Taggart achieving.

So, what can I bring to Taggart? I'm certainly not the best miner, manufacturer, or researcher in Eve. I'm also no master of PvP. To be honest, these are skills I hope to learn using Taggart's mentorship program. I have the drive to learn these abilities, but I need teachers willing to share their experience.

What I hope to bring to Taggart is something rather unique. My background and experience have granted me a unique insight into one of the most complex of all human subjects; the nature of politics and power. My education includes a bit of philosophy, rhetoric, politics, history, psychology, and mathematics. This odd mix of knowledge and skills just happens to be the sort of experience one needs to truly understand how people _think_. I'm a competitive person by nature, and I say, with perhaps a bit of ego, that my mind has learned to see and predict the unspoken rules which govern strategy and power. I'm an unrepentant student of Machiavelli, Clausewitz, and Green. I've participated in government projects which create simulations for predicting regional and global trends in politics, economics, and military development. All these experiences are, I believe, something which could be of great benefit to Taggart, especially as the introduction of player owned structures will continue to reinforce the dominance of regional alliances, and all the attendent politics, warfare, and diplomacy that entails.

Obviously, the word politics may bring up a slight spectre of fear to the rugged individuals of Taggart, whom I'm certain would be much happier without the entanglements of 'government' which naturally spring up and get in the way of business. I think the experiences of Taggart in the past have shown that there is no escaping politics, even in the universe of Eve. Here again, I believe I can contribute. There are ways that diplomacy, intelligence, and politics can be made into a profitable affair, rather than draining the coffers of the tradesman. Using the solid know-how I hope to gain from others within Taggart, it is my intention to make this happen. I hope to one day create a sort of 'capitalist political service', offering pay to order intelligence reports on everything from mineral resources to travel advisories to in-depth analysis of regional alliance markets; diplomats for hire to handle difficult mining and trade negotiations; and a consulting business which can help find more efficient and profitable ways to handle everything from manufacturing to advertising to research and development.

It will be a business quite unlike anything you've seen in Eve to date. Sure, each corportation has their own diplomats, their own intelligence networks, and so on. But no one's really found a way to to make these things _profitable_. I know how to accomplish it, and within a corporation whose driving principal is Capitalism, there is no other way to get these things done.

Of course, it will take time, effort, and money to make it work, but within Taggart, I'd be learning how to shape my time and effort into money, and that will make this dream a reality.

I look forward to a fruitful relationship....and I'll keep looking for that acceptance letter with baited breath.

Having now filled the greater portion of a page with rambling out of character thoughts, I don't have a great deal to tell you about my in-game persona. A loner, an Intaki, born in the expanse of the Syndicate, following his own path through the Universe. Arakasi is a student of ancient knowledge, gleaning the wisdom of ages from whatever sources come into his path. He is a ravenous consumer of information, a collector of sources and confidants, secrets and half-truths, all of which are carefully collected, analyzed, and processed, returning insights unseen by most. Some say he's an Intaki patriot, seeking to restore his people to true independence in the Federation. Others say he supports the Federation against all threats within and without. For himself, Arakasi just sits silently, and watches....

That is something unique. On another topic, what type of stuff do you write, sci-fi, fantasy?

Our company, Twilight Games, is a role-playing game press, though we are still in the process of producing our first product, a live action version of Obsidian, published by Apophis Consortium. We run the gamut of subjects, having ideas for fantasy, sci-fi, as well as more modern drama. Obviously, I can't go into great detail about future ideas :)

All the members of Twilight Games have a special interest in the Horror Genre; we maintain a separate site devoted to the subject of Horror-based RPGs called Flames Rising. That site has begun to take off recently, as we've started to get in depth reviews of a variety of games, and have been fortunate in getting interviews from a variety of RPG industry insiders.

For myself, I'm the 'rules guy' in the company. My own interests are in games and game theory, all those wonderful mechanics that get in the way of telling stories. I try to create systems which make games balanced and fair, easy to play, and, above all, integrate as quietly into the game as possible, so that you can more time enjoying what your playing and less time agonizing over what dice or how many points you need for something. In the past, I've written mostly fantasy, usually adventures set in the Forgotten Realms or Birthright settings of AD&D, with a smattering of short stories covering everything from sci-fi, modern horror, and even a short piece set in feudal Japan (possibly my favorite historical setting).
