It's a pleasure to meet you all. I perused the forums and website for a while before registering, and decided I'd like to attempt the application.
My character name is Baroch, but my real name is John. I'm currently the Grants Coordinator for a large social services agency serving the homeless and working poor. I've been married for just over 5 years, and live in Springfield, Missouri.
I can't claim that I'm a philosopher at heart, nor have I read Atlas Shrugged. I think I may, though, after having read about Taggart Transdimensional.
I haven't been playing Eve for long, but I'm finding it truly fascinating. I've played other MMO's, but always found the push toward group work as a necessity (in WoW, for example) to be a huge negative. I enjoy working for a team, but not necessarily with a team. Even in life I enjoy working toward a common goal, but I don't believe that to do so you should have to lose your own individuality or give up on your personal goals.
I'm getting ready to begin the application process. Hopefully I will be successful in my effort, and be able to join you in building TTI.
Another tenative recruit.
Hello and welcome to TTi forums. I have sent you the application. Enjoy.
You don't really need to be a "philosopher at heart" to be fit for TTi. You just need to have similar ideas as us.
You'll find several ex-WoW players here who has found Eve to be what you have - a place for individual work with an option for mutual cooperation but not mandatory.
See you around.

"Objectivism is not only true, it is great! Why? Because of the volitional work a mind must have performed to reach for the first time so exalted a level of truth—and because of all the glorious effects such knowledge will have on man’s life, all the possibilities of action it opens up for the future." -- Leonard Peikoff

Welcome to the TTI forums Baroch, and best of luck on your application.
I think you'll quickly figure out (if you have not already) that Objectivism is opposed to state-sponsored charity, even for the people in truly desperate situations that you work with on a daily basis in RL. In one respect TTI exists as a model to explore governance via the principals of Objectivism. However the game exists in its own universe. Most of the hard realities of life do not encroach into Eve. It would be good to have your RL perspectives in the conversation.
