Hello TTI ! I've been out of corp for quite awhile now, and inactive in game. I've been working on building up my RL assets. I hope all is well and profitable for everyone. Saw the movie Saturday night. I never thought it would come to completion, and I was glad to see it. It is a big story and I th...

Re: If someone had doubts over The Governator . . .
We can boil this all down to a single statement; money equals life. You rent your life to gain money and you spend money to continue living. Any system that tries to ignore this reality is doomed to fail. I really like these statements! Very concise and broadly applicable. It rings a lot like the i...

Re: If someone had doubts over The Governator . . .
Overall the free market is the best alternative to all of healthcare. It is logical that doctors and drug companies and insurance companies want to keep their customers alive for as long as possible because they are paying them. Red you did a great job defining some of the market pressures. But I w...

I've heard of various numbers but just for an instance, it is hard to tell which one causes higher price increase: litigation/defensive medicine OR forcing insurance companies to package lots of coverage that the buyer doesn't actually want (i.e. including rare diseases). I bet Raaz’s 17% goes subs...

I’ve already sent this out on Eve mail. Just wanted to say farewell to the few members that may not be quite as active in game.

Re: If someone had doubts over The Governator . . .
From what I've seen in the US the problem looks as though you're trying to do a NHS 'lite' thru the insurance companies, as opposed to having government run programs from the ground up bypassing these companies altogether. Sort of an NHS Lite at this point. Obama care also took away the preexisting...

Re: If someone had doubts over The Governator . . .
In essence, US is 90% NHS, while UK is 100%; and that one 10% of US that is semi-free but heavily regulated is keeping the whole thing afloat. Actually knowing people who have died because they didn’t have health insurance kinda makes it feel like the 90% with medical coverage in the US might be a ...

Russia? Business friendly? Don't make me laugh. The current "Russian State" might as well be the Russian Mafia and all business that want to do business need to bribe officials etc. I do agree. I can’t think of many places that are more corrupt than Russia. But let’s take a step back. Bri...

Hmm, Mother Russia is saying that it is opening her wide arms to more business? Nice, I'll just wait and see when those wide arms close to scoop up all the loot. EXACTLY! Russia is a mob run state of lost souls. It absolutely is a mob run state. And yet if you run a business there you gain a number...

By framing the discussion in these terms, the bankers have lost in advance. This bit is leading. That is what this debate will be about. We will examine whether financial innovation benefited anyone beyond the bankers. but she managed to get to the basic question here. Did it boost productivity and...

…instead of 15000 actions that are deemed illegal by the state, now there is only 1 action that is illegal. So the judge be becomes the final arbiter deciding if harm has been done? But you don't need regulations to protect property rights. You just need a good court system... Help me get this straight... I've always considered the court system sort of like the referees in a sporting event. They don't make the rules, they only make judgments about any given situation. How do y...

Allow me to pick the low hanging fruit on the environmental regulation question. I'll start with placer gold. That is the gold that is taken from streams. Traditionally placer gold was collected by manual panning, then sluicing machines, and then someone got the bright idea to use mercury. Mercury i...

Re: Are environmental regulations bad under all circumstances?
The only possible debate that could remain is that the regulation is protecting the rights of the individual, which I think it is not. The mandate in this article is a very long way from protecting individual rights. Taking the devil’s advocate position on this particular article ( that this edict ...

Interesting at how they appear to be shifting the fuel efficiency standard from MPG towards CO2 per mile. The two metrics are highly correlated. But by focusing on the CO2 it seems to move the conversation much closer to the “Carbon Tax” scenarios. ADMINISTRATION RELEASES NEW FUEL EFFICIENCY RULES W...

I'm a bit disenfranchised with the whole process, as I was summarily dismissed without so much as a by-your-leave. I'm not currently in the application review process. But I would like to add one perspective. Any added feedback on a rejected application only creates an opportunity for added angst (...
